Nandrolone Decanoate

Deca · Nandrolone Deca

Long-acting 19-nor (Deca-Durabolin); collagen/joint benefits, very long clearance.

Overview

Nandrolone decanoate (Deca-Durabolin) is the decanoate ester of 19-nortestosterone, a 19-nor androgen originally introduced clinically for osteoporosis, cachexia, and anemia. Free nandrolone binds the androgen receptor and is notable for weak aromatization (roughly 20% of testosterone's rate, preferentially to estrone) and for 5-alpha-reduction to the less androgenic dihydronandrolone, which is why its androgenic side-effect profile is comparatively mild. Its 10.2-day half-life produces a peak near 1.8 days and a long tail that reaches steady state over many weeks. Research protocols have used 1-2 injections per week. The main harm-reduction concern is not liver stress (rated none) but the exceptionally long detection window: the 19-norandrosterone metabolite is detectable for 4-9 months in controlled dosing studies. HPTA suppression is profound and recovery is slow.
