What gauge needle do I need for subcutaneous injections?

Subcutaneous injections typically use a 25 to 31 gauge needle, half an inch or shorter. Higher-gauge (thinner) needles are more comfortable and enough for small water-based peptide doses.

Why do oil-based injectables need a larger needle?
