GHRP-6

GHRP6

Ghrelin-receptor secretagogue that increases GH and notably stimulates appetite.

Overview

GHRP-6 is a first-generation growth hormone secretagogue that acts on the ghrelin (GHS-R1a) receptor to amplify growth hormone pulses from the pituitary. Unlike GHRH analogs, it works through a separate pathway, which is why stacking the two classes produces a stronger GH response than either alone. Its defining feature beyond GH release is appetite stimulation, a direct consequence of ghrelin-receptor activation, which makes it the appetite-heavy member of the GHRP family. The estimated half-life is roughly one hour with around 50% subcutaneous bioavailability, so research contexts typically reference multiple daily doses. Human pharmacokinetic data is limited and GHRP-6 is not an approved medication.
