Overview

BPC-157 (body protection compound 157) is a 15-amino-acid synthetic peptide derived from a sequence found in human gastric juice, widely used in recovery and healing research. First studied for gastric ulcer healing, animal models show it promotes angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation), accelerates tendon and ligament repair, and modulates inflammation through nitric oxide and growth factor pathways. Unlike most peptides, BPC-157 shows oral activity in animal studies, though subcutaneous injection remains the more common research route. There are no published human clinical trials, and the pharmacokinetic profile (half-life, bioavailability, Cmax) has not been characterized in humans.
