# Trestolone Acetate (MENT)

*Also known as: MENT, Trest A*

7α-methyl-19-nortestosterone acetate; potent, aromatizing, investigational male contraceptive.

## Overview

Trestolone acetate (MENT) is the acetate ester of 7-alpha-methyl-19-nortestosterone, an investigational androgen originally developed as a candidate male hormonal contraceptive. The 7-alpha-methyl modification gives the parent potent androgenic-anabolic activity without 5-alpha reduction, and the acetate ester is cleaved quickly to release free trestolone, requiring daily injection to sustain serum levels. The compound has a very short roughly 4-hour half-life, about 87% bioavailability, and peaks rapidly, so daily dosing is typical and accumulation is minimal. Effects include strong anabolic-androgenic activity with concurrent suppression of gonadotropins, which is the contraceptive mechanism, and the parent aromatizes significantly to estradiol. Harm reduction centers on the understanding that human pharmacokinetic data are limited, on daily dosing given the very short ester, on estradiol monitoring given the marked aromatization, and on a structured PCT given the contraceptive-grade gonadotropin suppression.
