# Survodutide

*Also known as: Survodu, BI 456906*

Investigational dual GLP-1/glucagon receptor agonist for obesity and MASH; weekly injection.

## Overview

Survodutide (BI 456906) is an investigational dual agonist of the GLP-1 and glucagon receptors, designed for obesity and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). The dual mechanism is meant to combine GLP-1 appetite suppression and insulin effects with glucagon fat-burning and thermogenic action, potentially delivering greater weight loss than GLP-1-only drugs. It is a once-weekly injection with an estimated half-life of roughly six days and high bioavailability near 80%. Survodutide has a real and growing clinical evidence base. It is in advanced Phase 3 trials for obesity and MASH, with Phase 2 data showing substantial weight loss and liver improvements. It is not yet an approved medication, but the human pharmacology is well characterized for a pipeline drug.
