# PEG-MGF (Pegylated MGF)

*Also known as: PEG-MGF*

Pegylated mechano growth factor with extended half-life versus native MGF; used for recovery research.

## Overview

PEG-MGF is a PEGylated form of mechano growth factor, the IGF-1Ec splice variant that muscle produces after mechanical overload. Attaching a polyethylene glycol chain shields the peptide from rapid enzymatic breakdown, extending its half-life from roughly 30 minutes to around 19 hours and improving subcutaneous bioavailability to near 60%. Like native MGF, it targets satellite-cell activation and local repair signaling, but the longer residence time allows less frequent dosing than the parent compound. Human pharmacokinetic data is thin, and PEG-MGF is not an approved medication. Most supporting evidence comes from rodent muscle-injury models and in vitro satellite-cell studies, with the PEGylation pharmacology borrowed from better-characterized PEGylated drugs.
