# HMG (Menotropin)

*Also known as: Human Menopausal Gonadotropin, Menotropin, Menopur*

Human menopausal gonadotropin providing FSH and LH activity; used in PCT and fertility protocols.

## Overview

Human menopausal gonadotropin (HMG, menotropin) is a preparation extracted from the urine of postmenopausal women that provides both follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) activity. It is used clinically in assisted reproduction to stimulate ovarian follicle development, and off-label in men to support testosterone production and spermatogenesis during post-cycle therapy. The mechanism is direct: exogenous FSH and LH act on the gonads, bypassing the HPG axis upstream signaling. The half-life is approximated from FSH pharmacokinetics at roughly 1.5 days, with about 45% bioavailability. Clinical dosing is well-established for fertility protocols. HMG is an approved medication with substantial clinical use, so the evidence base is stronger than most peptides here.
