# HGH Fragment 176-191 (AOD-9604)

*Also known as: AOD-9604, HGH Frag, AOD9604, Fragment 176-191*

Modified fragment of the growth hormone C-terminus studied for lipolysis without growth effects.

## Overview

HGH Fragment 176-191 (AOD-9604) is a modified synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal region of human growth hormone (residues 177-191), engineered to retain the fat-burning (lipolytic) activity of full-length HGH without its growth-promoting and insulin-regulating effects. It is proposed to act on the beta-3 adrenergic pathway to stimulate lipolysis in adipose tissue. Its estimated half-life is roughly 12 hours with around 50% bioavailability, which in research contexts supports once or twice daily dosing. The evidence picture is mixed. AOD-9604 did reach Phase 2 human trials for obesity and showed some weight-loss signal without significant safety issues, but development was discontinued, and the compound is not an approved medication.
