## Overview

Dulaglutide (Trulicity) is a long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist approved for type 2 diabetes and, more recently, for obesity and cardiovascular risk reduction. It is a once-weekly subcutaneous injection that mimics GLP-1, stimulating glucose-dependent insulin release, suppressing glucagon, slowing gastric emptying, and reducing appetite. Dulaglutide has a half-life of roughly five days and high bioavailability near 80%, enabled by a modification that resists DPP-4 degradation. Clinical dosing is well-established. Dulaglutide is an FDA-approved medication with an extensive clinical evidence base, including cardiovascular outcomes trials. Common effects include nausea and GI symptoms, and there are real risks like pancreatitis and thyroid C-cell concerns that warrant monitoring.
