# Dianabol

*Also known as: Methandrostenolone, Dbol, Methandienone*

Classic oral mass builder; short half-life, strong aromatization. Simple model — peak calibrated.

## Overview

Dianabol (methandrostenolone, methandienone) is the original oral anabolic steroid, a 17-alpha-alkylated testosterone derivative introduced in 1958. The 17-alpha-methyl group resists first-pass hepatic metabolism, making it orally active but hepatotoxic (rated moderate). It binds the androgen receptor and drives rapid nitrogen retention and glycogen storage, which is why it became the classic mass-builder. Its 5.25-hour half-life means serum levels swing hard, so research protocols have split dosing into 2-3 administrations per day. It aromatizes strongly to estradiol, so water retention, gynecomastia, and blood pressure are the central harm-reduction concerns, alongside liver enzyme and lipid monitoring. HPTA suppression is rapid and complete.
