## Overview

Clomid (clomiphene) is a selective estrogen receptor modulator used for female infertility and as a primary post-cycle therapy agent in men to restart endogenous testosterone production. It blocks hypothalamic estrogen receptors, which removes estradiol negative feedback and raises gonadotropin-releasing hormone pulse amplitude, driving luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone up so the testes produce testosterone again. The compound has a very long roughly 5-day half-life, near-complete oral bioavailability, and accumulates over several weeks, so peak gonadotropin response lags the start of dosing. Common effects include restored testosterone and improved libido, while higher or prolonged dosing can bring visual disturbance, mood changes, and elevated estradiol from increased aromatization of the recovering testosterone. Harm reduction centers on fixed-duration PCT protocols guided by LH, FSH, total testosterone, and estradiol bloodwork, on stopping immediately if visual symptoms appear, and on not stacking it with another SERM without cause.
