## Overview

Cartalax is a short peptide bioregulator developed in the Russian peptide program of Vladimir Khavinson, intended to support cartilage and joint tissue. Like the other cytogen-series bioregulators, it is thought to work by selective transcriptional regulation in target tissues rather than through a classical receptor mechanism, though that mechanism is poorly defined. The estimated half-life is short (under an hour), which is typical for small peptide bioregulators, and human pharmacokinetics have not been established. The supporting literature comes almost entirely from Khavinson's group with limited independent replication, so claims about cartilage regeneration should be read cautiously.
