# ARA-290 (Cibinetide)

*Also known as: Cibinetide*

Peptide analog of the erythropoietin helix B region studied for neuropathy and tissue protection.

## Overview

ARA-290 (cibinetide) is an 11-amino-acid peptide derived from the helix B region of erythropoietin (EPO). It is engineered to activate the innate repair receptor that mediates EPO tissue-protective effects, without stimulating red blood cell production. That separation means ARA-290 can potentially deliver EPO anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective benefits without the hematocrit-raising risks of full EPO. It is studied in neuropathy, sarcoidosis, and inflammatory conditions. ARA-290 has an estimated half-life of about 12 hours and around 50% bioavailability. ARA-290 reached Phase 2 trials for small fiber neuropathy and sarcoidosis, with published human data showing symptom improvement. It is not yet an approved medication, but the human pharmacology is more developed than most compounds on this list.
