Investigational decoy receptor that sequesters myostatin/GDF-11 to drive muscle growth.

## Overview

ACE-031 is a recombinant fusion protein that pairs the extracellular domain of the activin receptor type IIB with an Fc antibody backbone. It works as a decoy receptor, circulating and sequestering myostatin and related ligands so they cannot bind and suppress muscle growth. The result in animal models is dramatic muscle hypertrophy. As a large Fc-fusion protein, ACE-031 has an extended half-life of roughly three days and high bioavailability near 80%. ACE-031 reached clinical trials, with Phase 2 studies in Duchenne muscular dystrophy and healthy volunteers showing lean mass gains. Development was discontinued over safety concerns, including telangiectasia and bleeding events. Unlike most peptides on this list, there is real human data, but the safety signal is a real caveat.
